Police in College Park are investigating a string of armed robberies which targeted University of Maryland students over the weekend. Three suspects have been arrested in connection with one of the incidents, according to the Associated Press.
In the span of less than 12 hours Sunday, two students were approached by armed robbers. In the early morning hours, three males punched a student outside the Shanghai Club on Baltimore Avenue and took his wallet and iPhone. An officer chased down and arrested the attackers who police say were armed with brass knuckles and a knife.
Early in the afternoon, an attacker inside a student apartment building threatened another student with a handgun, attempting to steal a laptop. After a scuffle, the attacker fled; campus police and Prince George's County police are still investigating.
