


The Washington area woke up to a light covering of snow, and some snow still falling this morning, which will cause a difficult commute this morning.
Federal agencies are open, but employees have the option to take unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework, according to the office of Personnel Management. A few school districts have closed schools for today, but many are operating on a two-hour delay. Check out the full list of closings from our partner NBC Washington.
The Virginia Railway Express is operating on a full schedule, but the passenger rail service is urging commuters to exercise caution as crews clean and de-ice platforms. A problem on the Fredericksburg line is causing 30 minute delays; updates are being posted on VRE's Twitter feed. Some MARC trains are also operating on 8-10 minute delays in Maryland; check MTA Maryland's Twitter feed for updates.
The snow is expected to taper off this morning, although temperatures are not expected to go above freezing. Another snow event — this one with more accumulation — is possible for tomorrow afternoon and evening, according to weather reports.
