A rural school system in southwest Virginia is canceling the start of classes today due to concerns about an online posting that mentions the school massacre in Connecticut and local schools.
Virginia State Police alerted the Giles County School District of the posting, which is titled "The Next School Massacre Target?" and posted on a website that caters to conspiracy theories, a local television station reports. County schools will be closed Wednesday as a precaution, according to WDBJ.
The Superintendent posted a letter on the school's website that said no specific threats have been made at any schools in the county.
The website causing the concern mentions Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., and also schools in the district's town of Narrows.
