SoberRide In Effect For New Year's Eve

Those trying to fight off the winter chill with a chilled beverage of their own should be aware that the SoberRide program will be in effect tonight. The program offers free taxi trips home for those who may have reveled a bit too much

This holiday season the Washington Regional Alcohol Program is offering the SoberRide Program to local residents. It pays for up to a $30 taxi ride anywhere in the greater Washington area, nightly through New Years Eve from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

For a ride home, dial 1-800-200-8294 (or 1-800-200-TAXI).

New Year's Eve is the busiest night of the year for SoberRide; during the past five years, an average of 600 people have taken advantage of the program. Since 1993, the program has provided more than 55,000 safe rides home.
