: Morning Edition 
A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car on Braddock Road in Alexandria this morning, according to Alexandria police. Braddock Road was shut down between Beauregard and Hampton Road to allow police to investigate the cause of the crash.
An adult male was crossing Braddock Road when he was struck by a car in the westbound lanes of the road, ABC 7 reports. The man was not crossing in a crosswalk, a police spokeswoman tells ABC. The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and is being treated for minor injuries.
The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead on the scene.
