D.C. residents may not get to vote on the new color for D.C.'s taxicabs after all if D.C. Council members who aren't happy with the choices get their way.
Some D.C. Council members are calling the multi-colored patterns of yellow and green or red and white "appalling," according to the Washington Post.
Now Council members Mary Cheh and Jack Evans, say they will consider legislation to end the public vote so a new color scheme can be chosen. The lawmakers prefer a solid color such as yellow or red to the striped patterns unveiled by the D.C. Taxicab Commission, which would have the final say on a color regardless of what the public picks.
A survey conducted by Cheh on the state of the District's cab industry found that 38 percent of respondents wanted all-yellow cabs, while 15 percent wanted red.
