An early morning hit-and-run accident in Gaithersburg that resulted in the death of one pedestrian may be more then it originally seemed. Detectives from the major crimes division of Montgomery County Police Department are investigating the hit-and-run death of a 34-year-old man as a homicide.
The crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. in front of the Avalon School on West Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg. The road was closed for much of the morning and the school will be closed for students and staff today due to the investigation, ABC7 reports.
The two men that were struck were brothers. The second victim, who is 54 years old, was hospitalized with non life threatening injuries. He told investigators that he and his brother had been given a ride by several subjects in a black Honda Civic and then were dropped off at the crash site.
He believes the same car struck them moments later, and police found a Black Honda Civic abandoned nearby showing damage consistent with a crash. Police have contacted the car's owner to determine who was driving.
