: Morning Edition 
A University of Virginia student from the D.C. area has been killed in a boating accident during a study abroad program, according to the Associated Press.
Casey Shulman, 22, of Falls Church, was killed during a visit to the Caribbean island of Dominica after she was struck by a dive boat's propeller. Schulman and more than 50 other students visited the island as part of a "Semester at Sea" program.
Police spokesman Richmond Valentine said Sunday that Shulman and fellow students went snorkeling on a boat owned by a local dive shop. He says the captain was apparently reversing the boat when its propeller hit Shulman, who was swimming.
She was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The university's student affairs officer has been in touch with Shulman's family. Schulman was a graduate of J.E.B Stuart High School in Falls Church.
