Several children who attend the Field School in Northwest D.C. were injured this morning in a private school bus crash in Northwest D.C.
There were about 18 children aboard the Reston Limousine bus involved in the crash. One child, believed to be ejected from the bus, was transported to a nearby hospital in an ambulance. One other child and one adult were also transported to the hospital via ambulance. The extent of their injuries is unkown, but an officer on the scene told WAMU 88.5 those injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
The other children were transported from the bus to a D.C. Fire EMS mass casualty vehicle parked in a nearby church parking lot. Those children were being evaluated and then transported via mass casualty vehicle to area hospitals for further evaluation. Authorities have reported the names of all the students and their locations to the school so the school can provide that information to parents or guardians.
The crash happened around 8 a.m. and involved the bus, believed to be transporting children from the Friendship Heights Metro station to the Field School on Foxhall Road NW, and at least two other vehicles. The intersection of Van Ness St. and Nebraska Avenue NW was totally shut down as authorities investigated the accident.
