Virginia State Police are investigating after a man was accused this morning of making threatening comments on a Greyhound bus traveling from Richmond to New York City, according to the Associated Press.
Police say worried passengers called 911 early this morning about a man on the bus threatening to hurt other riders. State police responded and evacuated the bus in the pre-dawn hours along Interstate-95 in Northern Virginia. The investigation closed the HOV lanes north of Dumfries for approximately three hours, the Washington Post reports.
The man initially refused to leave the bus but was taken into custody later without incident, according to police. Investigators searched the bus for any suspicious packages, but did not find anything. The bus was cleared by 6 a.m. and the HOV lanes were reopened. Police say charges are pending.
