Several environmental groups are calling on Dominion Virginia Power to do more to increase the use of renewable energy to generate electricity.
The organizations, including the Sierra Club and the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, are demonstrating all this week outside Dominion Virginia's Richmond headquarters.
About two dozen people attended the first day of protests demanding Dominion officials increase renewable energy and rely less on fossil fuels. They say the energy provider is seeking renewable energy incentives paid for by its 2.3 million customers in Virginia allowed under state law but so far hasn't created more renewable power sources.
Dominion says it is committed to meeting the state's voluntary renewable energy goal of 15 percent of overall power from renewable sources by 2025.
