Students were heading into Central High School as usual this morning, but things were anything but normal as students, teachers and staffers were dealing with the loss of 18-year-old Marckel Ross. The junior was shot as he walked to school Tuesday morning.

Ross was a popular student on the track team and on the modeling team. Police are still investigating the murder; Ross is the second Prince George's County student to be murdered in a month. Amber stanley, a 20-year-old senior at Charles Flowers High School, was shot Aug. 22 inside her home in Kettering, Md.

Police have not made arrest in the Stanley case either, although they do not believe the crimes are linked. But parents are still concerned, including Tracy Wilson has two children at Central.

"Life is too short and I think a lot of times, children don't understand, or whoever it is doesn't understand the value of a  life," she says. "And i think we just have to take back the community."
