George Huguely V, arrives at the Charlottesville Circuit courthouse for his trial in Charlottesville, Va, Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012.  Huguely, is charged with the murder of fellow University of Virginia senior Yeardley Love.

Jurors are set to begin deliberations this week in the murder trial of George Huguely V, a former University of Virginia lacrosse player accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Yeardley Love.

Following this weekend's closing arguments, jurors insisted they were too tired to begin deliberation, according to the Associated Press. They'll have a few days to consider the testimony before reconvening Wednesday at 9 a.m.

During closing, Huguely's attorney admitted his client had a role in Yardley Love's death, but blamed Huguely's actions on youthful indiscretion and the couple's volatile relationship.

At one point, defense attorney Fran Lawrence referred to his client as a 'stupid drunk who was not acting maliciously,' according to AP. Lawrence urged jurors to review Huguely's videotaped statement to confirm that the former UVA lacrosse player had no clue that Love was hurt or dead.

Court is closed today for the holiday, and the trial can't resume until Wednesday because a grand jury is scheduled for Tuesday. Huguely faces anywhere from one year to life in prison.
