A first responder from Northern Virginia was a victim of an accident yesterday evening, according to the Alexandria Fire Department. Alexandria firefighter Joshua Weissman passed away after fighting for his own life this morning following a fall from an overpass on I-395 near the Shirlington exit.

Weissman was trying to get to a vehicle fire on that overpass when somehow he slipped and fell 20 feet into Four Mile Run Creek. The 33-year-old was given CPR on the scene and then transported to Washington Hospital Center. He passed away late Thursday.
