Former D.C. Council member Sekou Biddle is trying to win back his old seat, according to the Associated Press.

Biddle filed papers Tuesday to run as a Democrat for the at-large council seat currently occupied by Democrat Vincent Orange. Biddle finished third in a special election for that seat in April, behind Orange and Republican Patrick Mara.

Orange had previously served two terms as a Ward 5 councilmember. Biddle is a former State Board of Education member who served on the council for four months prior to the special election. He was chosen by Democratic Party officials as an interim replacement for Kwame Brown after Brown was elected council chairman.

The District's primary election will be held on April 3, 2012.
