A Fairfax County woman is found not guilty of violating the county's pet pooper-scooper law, according to the Washington Post.
Kim Zakrzewski was charged with failing to clean up after a friend's dog that she was caring for, a misdemeanor, but the evidence apparently didn't pass the sniff test with the jury.
Jurors deliberated for only 20 minutes in Fairfax County court Tuesday before returning the not-guilty verdict. Prosecutors introduced photos of the dog's alleged waste during the trial -- taken by Zakrzewski's neighbors -- but they couldn't produce a picture of the pooch in question actually passing poo.
Zakrzewski's neighbors photographed her walking little Baxter, a Westie mix, in their Penderbrook complex this spring. Baxter's owner was a key defense witness, saying the pile in the picture was not proportional for her petite pooch.
