Authorities in the District say a 34-year-old man has been arrested after entering a locked dormitory at George Washington University and fighting with students, according to the Associated Press.
The alleged intruder was arrested by GWU and Metropolitan Police Department officers on the second floor of the West End residence hall while trying to escape. The suspect was identified as Mergen Battulga, according to the Washington Post. Officials say the man entered the locked building by mingling with a group of residents as they went in. Students challenged the man after he was found inside a female resident's room, and then became embroiled in a fight with several male students.
Many of GW's residents halls are located on busy streets in Northwest D.C. and not in an isolated campus setting. Officials are urging students to be cautious as they enter and exit dorms.
