Metrobus Driver Stabbed While Assisting Passenger

A Metrobus driver was stabbed overnight while trying to break up a confrontation between a female passenger and a man that had allegedly been exposing himself on the bus. Police have arrested the man in connection with the stabbing.

A Metrobus driver was stabbed overnight when he attempted to help a female passenger that had gotten into a confrontation with another rider, NBC Washington reports. The 28-year-old driver was stabbed several times at the Wheaton Metro Station, but his injuries are non-life threatening.

The incident began when passengers on the driver's Y7 route bus complained that another passenger was exposing himself when the bus was near the Silver Spring Metro station. The driver asked him stop, but he persisted, authorities tell NBC. 

When the bus arrived at the Wheaton station, the driver ordered passengers off the bus to clear the disruption. At this point, a female passenger got into a fight with the man that had been exposing himself on the bus.

The driver of the bus attempted to break up the fight, and the suspect, a 52-year-old man, allegedly stabbed him several times. Montgomery County Police arrested the man a short distance away from the station.
