Apr. 8-May 31: A New Context: Photographs from The Baltimore Sun Revisited

Before memory cards and camera phones, photographers developed, printed and edited photos by hand. Instructions on how to crop or enhance a photo were never intended for public eyes, but a new exhibit at the Albin O. Kuhn Library Gallery at The University of Maryland, Baltimore County lets visitors see the process behind the final product. A New Context: Photographs from The Baltimore Sun Revisited features edited news photographs from the past. The exhibit runs through May 31.

Apr. 8-28: Pia Mater

You can head to The Fridge in Southeast through April 28 to see an exhibition of work by three students working toward their Master of Fine Arts degrees at American University. The artists featured in Pia Mater use nontraditional media to dissect the concept of vulnerability. Emily Francisco creates sculpture using old technology, furniture, and musical instruments, while Ashleigh Werner and Jenny Sawle draw on textiles.
