Jan. 21: King: A Filmed Record... Montgomery to Memphis

Happy Inauguration Day! Today you can pay tribute to the late Martin Luther King, Jr. without opening your wallet. AFI Silver Theatre is hosting a free screening of King: A Filmed Record...Montgomery to Memphis at 2 p.m. The 1970 documentary presents footage of the civil rights leader's life and work, taking viewers on a visual journey from the Montgomery bus boycott, to the "I Have a Dream" speech, to the Lorraine Motel balcony where he was fatally shot.

Jan. 22-Mar. 3: Henry V

For a tale about a very different type of king, you can head to Folger Theatre to see the company's first ever performance of Shakespeare's Henry V. Set during the Hundred Years' War, the historical drama chronicles the efforts of an ambitious young ruler as he attempts to conquer France. The play opens tomorrow night with a pay-what-you-can performance and runs through March 3.
