Got your popcorn ready? Good! You can catch five recent Golden Globe Award-nominated films at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring. There will be screenings today and tomorrow of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, The Deep Blue Sea, Arbitrage, Bernie, and The Paperboy. With performances by Richard Gere, Nicole Kidman, and funny-man Jack Black, there's something for everyone!

New York-based jazz guitarist Abe Ovadia kicks off two days of Coltrane at [Twins Jazz] on U Street tonight. Supported by drummer Shareef Taher, Ovadia will perform pieces by jazz legend John Coltrane in two nightly performances starting at 8 and 10 p.m.
