(Oct. 22-23) SLUT Staged Reading Festival

Sticks and stones may break our bones, but words can shatter ceilings. You can visit the Arlington Arts Center tonight and tomorrow night for a staged reading presented by local theatre company The Disreputables. SLUT is a two-night festival consisting of original, short plays designed to raise awareness about what organizers are calling the "War on Women."

(Oct. 22) The 15th Annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor: Ellen DeGeneres

Women ought to be seen and heard, especially when they're as funny as comedienne and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. The Kennedy Center will ring with laughter tonight, as a cast of comics appears to present DeGeneres with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. So start your week laughing, you've got a long way 'til Friday.

A 3-D printer is being credited with helping save an Ohio baby's life, after doctors "printed" a tube to support a weak airway that caused him to stop breathing. The innovative procedure has allowed Kaiba Gionfriddo, of Youngstown, Ohio, to stay off a ventilator for more than a year.
