(Feb. 27-March 17) El Abrazo Lunar

If you're looking for something to tie up your time before spring arrives, consider heading south of the border. Washington's Teatro de la Luna presents a variety of Latin American plays in El Abrazo Lunar or "The Moon's Embrace". The festival features productions from Costa Rica, Spain, Argentina, and Uruguay, and touches on themes including family, immigration, class, and magic through March 17 at the Gunston Arts Center in Arlington.

Arlington's Artisphere celebrates the work of Frida Kahlo for the next month. Kahlo's life is revealed through a recently released collection of personal photographs showing for the first time in these United States. The show is complemented by a number of film screenings, concerts, and workshops.

For some Spanish tradition Washington's Lisner Auditorium hosts a week-long Flamenco Festival beginning Wednesday. A few of the form's finest performers explore flamenco's gypsy roots and contemporary innovations.
