


(Oct. 11-Nov. 6) Reading between the lines
“A truly cultured person reads Salman Rushdie and Danielle Steel.” So says one member of a book club in The Book Club Play, showing at Arena Stage in Southwest Washington. One member’s perfect life and perfect reading group are upset by some bizarre circumstances that force her to read between the lines. The comedy about life, love and literature is staged through early November.
(Oct. 11-Nov 19) Festival de Teatro
For some theater with a little Latin flavor Teatro de la Luna’s fourteenth annual Festival of Hispanic Theater begins today. Comedic, dramatic, political, and musical Spanish-language plays from Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Venezuela and these United States are performed with English dubbing.
(Oct. 11-Jan. 8) Degas’s Dancers at Phillips Collection
The Phillips Collection has a series of masterworks by Edgar Degas. The Impressionist loved ballet - he knew the dancers, the music and the moves and represented the world well with oils, pastels, drawings, prints and sculptures. His passion for the form is obvious in Degas’s Dancers at the Barre: Point and Counterpoint showing until early 2012.
