(Oct. 1-May 6) Colorful art at 1600 Pennsylvania
If you ever find yourself walking by the White House wondering what’s going on with interior design inside the country’s best known residence, you’re in luck. Decorative art from 1600 Pennsylvania is showing just steps away at the Renwick Gallery beginning Saturday. Something of Splendor features close to 100 objects dating back to the early 19th century - including furniture, ceramics, metals, glass and textiles.

(Sept. 29-Oct. 23) Agatha at Olney
Olney Theatre Center has Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution through late October. A man is arrested for the murder of a rich widow only to have his wife testify against him. Plot twists are followed by more plot twists in the celebrated whodunit.

(Sept. 30-Oct. 6) 16mm Black Power
A group of Swedish journalists came to the United States in the late 60s to document the Black Power movement - landing unguarded interviews with Stokely Carmichael, Angela Davis, Eldrige Cleaver and others. The footage is assembled for the first time in The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 opening tomorrow at Washington’s E Street Cinema. Artists and activists discuss the influence of the struggle alongside the original footage.
