Assateague State Park has some mighty clean water.

An annual report has given Maryland's Assateague State Park's beach a "superstar'" rating for water quality.

The Natural Resources Defense Council reports Assateague was among 35 popular beaches across the country that reached the group's standard for meeting federal safe-swimming guidelines in at least 98 percent of water samples since 2009.

The survey ranked Maryland fourth out of 30 states for clean beach water in 2013.

Delaware ranked first with the state's Dewey Beach among the "superstar'" beaches in the U.S. Point Lookout State Park in St. Mary's County also was mentioned in the list of beaches with high ranking.
