Under Proposed Bill Maryland Would Limit Cooperation With Feds On Immigration

In Maryland the American Civil Liberties Union is leading an effort to limit local police involvement in federal immigration enforcement.

Federal immigration detainer requests ask any state or local law agency to hold suspected undocumented immigrants for possible deportation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In a nee report, attorneys with the ACLU say this undermines public safety and wastes state taxpayer dollars.
