Five Injured After Car Collides With Fire Truck

A civilian has been transported to a hospital with life threatening injuries after a fire engine and another vehicle collided.

Four firefighters were also injured in the collision and three have been transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A spokesman for the fire department says it appears the fire engine was leaving a scene when it was struck by the other vehicle. The incident occurred at Drake Place and 53rd street in Southeast DC.

Emergency responders were called to the scene around noon.
