Expect rain for most of the day Monday.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch through 5 p.m. for most of the D.C. region.
The watch includes the District of Columbia, 11 counties in Maryland from Baltimore to Montgomery County, and Northern Virginia.
A cold front is making its way through the area, bringing thunderstorms with potentially damaging winds and rain in its wake, according to NBC Washington.
Localized flooding is possible through this evening. The District is making sandbags available to residents in low-lying Bloomingdale at 1st and Rhode Island Ave. NW.
The 4,000 employees with the National Weather Service remain on the job, despite the government shutdown, though they did make a coded plea for pay in a forecast over the weekend.
