A small plane carrying three people crashed-landed south of Bowie, Md., late Monday afternoon, shutting down traffic on Route 50.

A driver who reported seeing the plane go down called 911 around 3:45 p.m. on Labor Day,

Three people have been reported in the single-engine four-seat plane at the time of the crash. Two men were airlifted to Baltimore Shock Trauma in critical condition and a woman in serious condition was transported to Prince George's General Hospital by ground, according to Prince George's Fire Department Chief Marc Bashoor.

Route 50 was shut down in both directions, but has since been reopened to traffic.

There is no word on the cause of the crash.
