The Fairfax County Health Department says there's no cause for alarm, but they are asking an entire high school to get tested for tuberculosis before the school year starts.

It all started when three students at Robert E. Lee High school in Springfield were diagnosed with tuberculosis in June. An investigation led the health department to send out letters requesting all students and staff get tested. There are 1,900 students who attend Lee High.

Health Department Director Doctor Gloria Addo-Ayensu says they're doing everything they can to make sure everyone stays healthy.

"We want everyone at the school who has not been tested to take advantage of the special clinics we are going to be holding in the next several weeks or so," she says.

Addo-Ayensu says TB testing requires two visits to a clinic or doctor—one for a skin test, the second to learn the results.

With appropriate antibiotic treatment, TB can be cured in most cases.
