Leggett Wants Fillmore To Cancel Molotov Performance

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett wants The Fillmore Silver Spring to cancel next month's show by the Mexican band Molotov, reports the Associated Press.

The rap-metal band is scheduled to play at the music venue on August 26. Last week, Leggett wrote a letter to the general manager at the Fillmore claiming he has serious concerns about the booking and is "personally offended" because of homophobic lyrics in one of the band's songs.

The county owns the Fillmore building and leases it for $90,000 a year to Live Nation. The rental agreement doesn't give Montgomery officials any say in the content of the bookings.

A spokesman from Live Nation says the performance won't be canceled.
