Maryland Casinos Win Big In Fiscal Year 2013

Maryland Lottery officials say the state's four operating casinos generated gross revenue of more than $608 million in fiscal year 2013, which ended June 30. That's 14 percent more than the state's Board of Revenue Estimates had projected.

The big money came from casino slot machines, which generated about $30 million more than board members predicted, and table games like blackjack, which earned more than $10 million above estimates.

Of the gross revenue, about $284 million is set aside for the state's education trust fund.
