Alexandria police officer Peter Laboy is back at home, after spending two months in the hospital due to a gunshot wound to the head. The 45-year-old officer and father of four was shot by a taxi driver during a routine traffic stop last February.

Laboy still faces one more operation and months of rehab. Laboy is currently wearing a helmet on his head to help his injured skull heal, and will have two steel plates inserted in his skull to protect his brain, but that procedure has yet to be scheduled.

Laboy's friends surprised the officer by restoring his antique Mercedes while he was recuperating from his wounds.
