Drivers To See Traffic Change Along Route 15 In Frederick County

Play associated audio

There's a new traffic pattern for drivers in Frederick County. Those taking the northbound side of Route 15 will no longer be allowed to make a left turn onto Willow Road starting Monday morning. Drivers must now take Route 15 north all the way to Biggs Ford Road, the next intersection, to make a U-turn to get to Willow Road.

The Maryland State Highway Administration says it's making the change because of nearby development and to improve safety and traffic flow for the 44,000 drivers who travel the area every day.

As part of the Homewood at Willow Ponds development, the SHA and the City of Frederick required the developer to construct concrete islands to restrict the northbound left-turn movement.
