The murder in Hillcrest Heights Monday marks the fifth Prince George's County teen to be killed this school year.

A 15-year-old Suitland High School student found dead Monday afternoon was shot by an unknown attacker, said Prince George's County Police.

Investigators found Charles Walker Jr. on the ground just blocks from his home in the 4100 block of 28th Avenue in Hillcrest Heights. Walker was taken to a local hospital where he died of a gunshot wound.

Walker's death is the fifth unsolved murder of a Prince George's County high school student this school year.

Police have not specified a possible motive.

The victim's aunt, Laurice Massey, told WRC-TV that Walker was heading to a bus stop when he was attacked. Some published reports claim some family members said he may have been targeted for a new pair of shoes he was carrying at the time of the assault.

The Prince George's County school system released a statement calling the death "senseless." Grief counselors have been made available to students at the high school.

Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
