Metro experienced significant delays on the Green and Yellow lines this morning after a person was struck and killed by a Yellow Line train at the Gallery Place/Chinatown station.
Metro spokesperson Dan Stessel says the individual was an adult male, who fell in the path of a Yellow Line train heading to Mt Vernon Square. Stessel says the cause of the accident is currently "under investigation."
Riders were being moved off the train involved in the accident, which occurred shortly after 8 a.m.
Trains were single tracking between L'Enfant Plaza and Mt. Vernon Square, but delays have since cleared up.
