Smokers in Montgomery County may soon be restricted from lighting up in even more public places.
The Montgomery County Council will vote on Tuesday, whether to expand the county's smoking ban. If approved, the smoking ban would be extended to most county-owned property. That would include even the outdoor areas of county parking garages and lots, and the areas right outside of county government and office buildings.
Throughout the legislative process, a few areas were added and some removed. A council committee recommending adding RideOn bus stops and shelters, despite concerns about how it would be enforced. County-owned golf courses were exempted, though further examination showed doing so would only involve one course: Falls Road.
