Orange and Red Line customers will feel the effects of Metro weekend track work.

Scheduled track work will cause delays this weekend on Metro's Red and Orange Lines.

Starting at 10 p.m., Red Line trains will share a single track through two work zones: between Takoma and Rhode Island Avenue, then again between Shady Grove and Twinbrook. Crews wil be working on station platforms and performing upgrades to the electric third rail among other track maintenance. Metro says to expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

On the Orange Line, meanwhile, platform work will have trains sharing a track between Stadium Armory and Cheverly.  Orange Line trains will also be single tracking all weekend between Ballston and West Falls Church for track maintenance. Delays of 15-20 minutes are expected in both areas.

Service should be back to normal on Monday.
