The first round of fundraising figures in the District has been tallied for this spring's special D.C. Council election.
Democrat Matthew Frumin, a neighborhood advisory commissioner from Ward 3, practically lapped the field, raising $82,000 and posting $76,000 cash-on-hand.
That's more than twice as much money as his closest competitor, in this case, Democrat Elissa Silverman, a former reporter and budget analyst, who, despite forgoing corporate contributions, was able to raise about $36,000 and has $32,000 in the bank.
In the middle of the pack, Democrat John Settles has $24,000, Republican Pat Mara has $16,000, interim council member Anita Bonds, who was picked by D.C.'s local Democratic party to fill the seat until the April election, posted $11,000, and Democrat Paul Zukerberg, an attorney, has about $7,000 in the bank.
Rounding out the field, former independent council member Michael Brown, who lost his re-election bid last November and is now running as Democrat, posted $1,100 cash-on-hand, and Statehood Green candidate Perry Redd has $700.
