D.C. police have arrested nine people in connection with a drug-related investigation.

D.C. police say they've arrested nine people as part of a drug investigation in the District's Shaw neighborhood.

Police say they seized crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and other evidence from the group following an extensive investigation. The nine arrested, whose names weren't immediately released, face charges including robbery, drug distribution and firearms possession.

At one point the investigation by district police was widened to include federal authorities such the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier says many of the people arrested were believed to have loitered and were not residents of the Shaw neighborhood.
