The Washington National Cathedral hosted more than 2,200 on Tuesday for the National Prayer Service.

The Washington National Cathedral hosted the President and Vice President for a morning of prayer and reflection as he begins his final term in office.

The Washington Performing Arts Society's Children of the Gospel choir performed before President Barack Obama and a "by invitation only" gathering of more than 2,200 dignitaries at the National Cathedral. It was the interfaith prayer breakfast celebrating the 57th Presidential inauguration, through music, prayer and readings.

The message was the same no matter what the language or faith of the speaker.

"Although we have distinct faith traditions and we speak different languages, we are united in our shared desire for peace and good will for the entire human community. Welcome to your house," said Rev. Adam Hamilton, who gave the sermon Tuesday.

The breakfast is the final inauguration event. Now that the pomp and ceremonies are over, President Barack Obama can begin his ambitious and politically controversial agenda for his final term It includes reforming the nation's laws affecting same-sex marriage, gun control and immigration-
