Obama Expected To Attend Two Inaugural Balls

There are only two official Inaugural Balls this season. These are the Inaugural Balls the President and First Lady are expected to attend.

The President Inauguration committee manages both official balls and while the Commander-in-Chief's Inaugural tickets are only for select members of the military, tickets to the Official Inaugural Ball are available to the public for $60 each, by filling out an online request, and then being selected by the committee.

But in addition to the official balls, there are at least 19 unofficial, state society balls, to appeal to tastes and loyalties from the Black Tie and Boots... to Bluegrass... to various states.

Also this year, the District's Art and Soul restaurant owned by celebrity chef Art Smith will open for a late-night Chefs Ball, ahead of the inauguration. Smith, who was Oprah Winfrey's personal chef, says his aim is to showcase the city's best food and chefs, including Todd Gray of Equinox Restaurant, Rock Harper of D.C. Central Kitchen.
