A spokesman for the Prince George's County fire department says authorities responded to a "hazardous device" early Friday morning in the 5000 block of Edgewood Road, about a mile north of the University of Maryland College Park campus.
The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are helping with the investigation, as is the bomb squad from the city of Annapolis.
The fire department did not immediately release details about the device or whether any threat was associated with it, saying only that the device has been made "safe."
