Annual bridge inspections will keep Yellow Line trains off the bridge between Pentagon and L'Enfant Plaza Metro stations.

Five stations on Metro's Red Line will be closed this weekend for scheduled track work.

The Takoma, Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont stations will close at 10 p.m. tonight and will stay closed through the weekend. Anyone traveling through the work zone will have to take a free shuttle bus, and Metro says it could take up to an hour longer than usual to make the trip.

Track work will also have shuttle buses replacing Green Line trains this weekend between the Archives and Waterfront stations, adding 20 minutes to the travel time and there will be no Green Line service at L'Enfant Plaza as a result.

There will be no Yellow Line service meanwhile between Fort Totten and Archives. Yellow Line trains will operate via the Blue Line between the Huntington and Eastern Market stations because the Yellow Line bridge is closed for an annual inspection.

Trains will also share a single track along stretches of the Orange and Blue Lines, causing delays of up to 15 minutes.

E-Cigarettes and Vaping

Last week, the D.C. Council voted to designate e-cigarettes and "similar vapor products containing nicotine" as tobacco products. That means that their sales tax will jump from the regular 5.75% sales tax to the 70% tax that's tacked onto sales of products like cigarettes and cigars. We explore what this means for the evolving public health debate surrounding e-cigarettes.
