In early 2014, D.C.'s streetcars are expected to start picking up passengers for the first time in 50 years. But well in advance of that, the Department of Transportation is asking the public for help in coming up with a "tag line" for the vehicles.
"A tag line is a slogan or phrase that helps convey a specific benefit to a particular product, so like, 'Streetcars, it's like taking the bus, but fancy.' Yes that's a tag line," says Dara Ward, a spokeswoman with DDOT.
Ward says the department has six tag lines that they're asking the public to vote on.
DDOT is taking votes via an online survey, and the last day to vote is Friday Dec. 14.
