Greg Hall, chosen to replace Del. Tiffany Alston, will need to be appointed by Maryland's governor.

Supporters of Greg Hall, chosen to replace Tiffany Alston as Prince George's representative to Maryland's House of Delegates, are calling on the governor today to approve the choice.

Prince George's County Democrats chose Hall to take Alston's seat after she was convicted of stealing money from the General Assembly to pay an employee of her private law firm.

Gov. Martin O'Malley has yet to give the final appointment, which has angered Hall's supporters. They planned on barraging the governor's office with phone calls Monday morning seeking approval.

Hall was convicted two decades ago on gun and drug charges, but now owns a business and has worked as an aide to Prince George's County councilman Will Campos.

The Young Democrats of Prince George's, one of many groups behind today's phone campaign, says Hall is a perfect example of someone who has turned his life around and made positive contributions to the community.

Update, 5 p.m.: A spokeswoman for the governor said that as of 4:45 pm, they received less than 10 phone calls about Hall.
