D.C.'s Department of Employment Services is consolidating a service center in southwest Washington with another center nearby in southeast.
The agency says the move takes effect Monday, and that it expands services at the D.C. American Job Center-Southeast, located at 3720 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE. They will operate daily on-site assistance for unemployment compensation, as well as workforce development and training services.
Officials say the move also allows the department to work alongside the Department of Human Services in the future to provide more comprehensive workforce development services to residents.
The employment services agency says the move is part of its reform effort to serve more residents through cost-saving measures.
