Waterkeeper Alliance Accuses Maryland Poultry Farms Of Pollution

The Waterkeeper Alliance, an organization aimed at protecting water from polluters, claims that Hudson Farm in Maryland is polluting a nearby river, and that the farm should be held liable.

The alliance also says Perdue Farms, which contracts with Hudson Farm, should also be held accountable for the damage.

A federal judge is hearing the case now. Purdue says the outcome has huge implications, and that if it loses, all poultry farms on the Eastern Shore will be liable for Clean Water Act violations.

Closing arguments are set for the end of the month.
