


Voters in Virginia oppose year-round schooling, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. "Virginia, by a healthy margin are against requiring year-round school," says Tim Malloy, with the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
The margin is 51 to 47 percent against year-round schooling among the 1,400 registered voters polled.
But as the numbers break down, there are interesting differences. Voters with children in public school support year round schooling 50 to 47 percent. Voters with college degrees also favor year round schooling 50 to 44 percent. Independent voters, 48 in favor 44 against.
The poll finds little difference between Republicans and Democrats, as well as men and women on this matter. The poll it has a 2.6 percent margin of error.
The new rules create a long-awaited regulatory framework for what has become a popular and industry made up of over 150 food trucks.
Thirteen first-time Democratic candidates said yesterday that they hoped to unseat Northern Virginia Republicans as part of a plan to get closer to a majority in the House of Delegates.
